Hay Mr Deejay!

Posted by Wedding Creativo Daily Photo Blog (Chicago, United States) on 28 March 2008 in Sport & Recreation and Portfolio.

I recently stumbled upon a pretty cool wedding music selection tool on the website weddingwire.com (we have a listing here in the photography section). As it says there, you can "listen to hundreds of popular wedding songs and music through iTunes or Windows Media Player. Watch wedding music videos and build the perfect wedding playlist."

If I had to pick some songs TODAY here would be some favorites (I guess you could consider these some alternatives to the usual suspects):

Processional:
John Lennon "Love"

Carla Bruni's version of the Italian classic "Il Cielo in Una Stanza", in French Bruni's version is called "Le Ciel Dans Une Chambre" (yes, the same woman that is now the wife of French President Nicolas Sarkozy...I wonder what their song was?)

Brian Eno "And Then So Clear"

Bjork "Unison" (well, the lyric are not quite there, but if there were an instrumental version...it would be so cool)

Thomas Newman "Mauve Antarctica"

Claude DeBussy "Clair de Lune"

Recessional:
John Prine "Let's Talk Dirty in Hawaiian" (this, of course, would be silly)

Dinner Music:
anything from Chris Botti's CD "Italia"
anything from Chet Baker (the original "chris botti")

First Dance:
Cassandra Wilson's version of "Harvest Moon"
Al Green's version of "Unchained Melody"
Queen "You're My Best Friend"

Father/Mother Dances:
Nina Simone "My Baby Just Cares For Me"

Opening the Dance Floor:
Gipsy Kings version of "Volare"

A side note...one of my friends told me that at her young son's talent show his group performed the line dance "Cha Cha Slide." Hay super deejays out there....I think it's time to come up with a new line dance song. One of these days I need to post my video montage of Cha Cha Slide dances at various weddings. I know it's fun....but I hope something new will come out soon. Let me see you clap your hands!!!!!!
